City of Choctaw

What began as a Main Street transformation evolved into a 12-year partnership spanning downtown, City Hall, and the Markets at Choctaw.

About Choctaw

The City of Choctaw is a small Oklahoma town where downtown Main Street is central to community identity and economic vitality. Public spaces reflect whether the city invests in itself. Managing Main Street landscaping, plus City Hall and Markets at Choctaw (with drainage canals and medians), requires both design expertise and long-term stewardship.

The Situation Before Willis

Main Street gives a town its personality. Without proper landscaping, that personality quickly becomes cold and bland. The City of Choctaw wasn’t cold or bland, but their landscaping didn’t represent that. They had broken irrigation systems. Waterfalls that didn’t fit. The infrastructure and design needed to be replaced entirely. When the city issued an RFP for design, installation, and ongoing maintenance, we knew we were the team for the job.

Our Solution

We completely redesigned the landscape from the ground up. We removed the old irrigation system and waterfalls. We installed 7-inch caliper trees that provided immediate maturity to the space instead of waiting years for growth. We then committed 12 years of stewardship: mowing, turf care, flowers, and maintenance that kept Main Street looking cared for. And when the city wanted to expand the project to City Hall and the Markets at Choctaw, we were ready to jump right in.

Removed outdated landscape features and developed a cohesive new design that better reflected the character and identity of downtown Choctaw.
Replaced aging irrigation systems with a modern solution designed to support long-term plant health and reduce ongoing maintenance issues.
Installed mature 7-inch caliper trees using specialized equipment, creating an established downtown appearance immediately rather than waiting years for growth.
Provided ongoing mowing, turf care, flower rotations, arbor care, and landscape maintenance to preserve the investment and keep Main Street looking its best.
Expanded services to City Hall and the Markets at Choctaw, including drainage corridors and median landscaping, creating a consistent appearance across key public spaces.

The Biggest Wins

  • Complete transformation from broken infrastructure to a beautiful downtown
  • 12-year partnership within the community of Choctaw
  • Project expansion to multiple properties based on trust and performance
  • Improved town pride now that Downtown, Markets, and City Hall reflect civic investment that was missing
