Remington Park

In May 2024, Willis stepped into an emergency transition to help out the Remington Park horse racing track and casino after their previous vendor went out of business. The goal was immediate: stabilize the property fast, restore visible curb appeal, and rebuild confidence that the property could be managed at a high level. What started as an urgent recovery became a longer-term partnership.

About Remington Park

A top destination in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District, Remington Park covers 260 acres of turf and landscaped grounds, anchored by a casino and horse racing facility, and supported by multiple water features that require consistent, high-level care.

The Situation Before Willis

The property had not been truly maintained for nearly 8 months. Mowing happened, but landscaping, beds, and systems were largely untouched. The landscape was distressed. Weeds were overtaking turf and beds. Mulch and plant health were in rough shape. Irrigation was nearly inoperable. Water features were low on water and overrun with algae. Trust was also strained. Remington needed value and follow-through, not overcharges and excuses.

Our Solution

Willis approached Remington Park like a complex facility recovery—triage first, then a long-term plan.

Full campus mow, broad weed control, bed restoration, shrub trimming, cleanup, fresh mulch, and seasonal color in key planters—fast improvements that patrons and leadership could immediately see. Willis dedicated a full two weeks of initial recovery work to see an immediate rapid improvement.
The irrigation system had wiring failures and had been “patched” with battery-powered valves that were hard to manage. Willis implemented a Wireless Valve Link solution to restore controllability and avoid a much higher-cost overhaul—making irrigation manageable and scalable again as the campus is restored.
Willis focused on the areas that matter most to the Remington experience—especially the paddock lawn (an up-close, broadcast-visible area). That area received higher-precision care, including daily-ready mowing via a robotic mower and turf improvements to keep it consistently tidy.
Remington has multiple water features (natural falls + formal fountains). Willis began a rehab plan: converting natural features away from “pool-style chlorine” toward a true ecosystem approach (biofiltration) and improving formal fountains with filtration & automatic chlorination for a cleaner look and easier management.

The Biggest Wins

  • Immediate visible results noticed by leadership. Photos were shared internally because the property looked noticeably better.
  • Facilities team win that helped the Facilities Manager look like a hero for making a smart vendor decision.
  • Rebuilt trust for what began as an emergency transition and became a 3-year contract.
  • Expanded responsibility for Willis, which was asked to take on additional high-trust areas (like the turf track) as the partnership deepened.

What’s Next

We’re excited to continue partnering with Remington Park as we help restore this popular destination to its full potential. We’ll keep prioritizing the most visible, guest-facing zones first, while also improving the behind-the-scenes areas that support the overall quality of the property. Our approach stays aligned with Remington’s priorities: using resources wisely and creating an exceptional environment and experience for every patron. We’re looking forward to seeing how the property continues to evolve over the next several years through this strong partnership.
